About Heather and Rachel
We had the incredible fortune of crossing paths almost seven years ago, when Heather wandered into Rachel’s room and found it overflowing with vintage goodies large and small. Over the years the two of us have cooked up a variety of projects for ourselves, but our love of all things old and forgotten finally pushed this website into fruition. The items you see on this website have been hand picked from endless miles of thrift store racks; we don’t do any big auction bulk buys, because we love the hunt almost as we love the find (and this way we can be really picky about what we have up for grabs).
Rachel is really the thrifter of the two, and she’s been known to drive far and wide in search of the best thrift stores. Heather is the librarian and jewelry maker, she keeps this site organized and updated, and plays with beads when she can’t sleep.
About the Goods
We make every effort to fully describe the condition of each item on our website. We sew buttons back on, we mend loose seams, and we’ve even been known to spend an afternoon coaxing out a stain or two. In the event that there is a flaw on an item that we don’t feel up to fixing, we’ll tell you about it. With that said, this is vintage stuff. We trust that people know what this means, but just in case: people have worn these clothes before you, and sometimes it shows.
In addition to disclosing the condition of the garment, we take great pains to accurately and consistently measure each piece of clothing. We likewise make a stab at converting this to contemporary sizes, but we really encourage you to go by the numbers. We recommend finding something you already own and taking similar measurements of that garment. If there’s ever an additional measurement you would like us to take of an item, just drop us an email and we’d be happy to do that. Please note: just because you see one of us wearing something in a photo, this does not mean that the item fits us; we sometimes pin larger items to fit better, and we've likewise been known to squeeze into small things and hold our breath for the picture.
A note about the jewelry. The vast majority of the beads Heather uses are deadstock beads from the 50s and 60s. A very small amount of non-vintage beads are also used; we make an effort to note what is what, but if you have a question about a particular item, please ask. Likewise if you see a piece of jewelry that you like but would prefer to be longer/shorter/different colors, please ask. We can almost always hook you up with what you’re after.

Forms of Payment
Paypal. End of story. You don’t even have to have a Paypal account to use Paypal, it’s fast, and it keeps us organized.
Returns
Requests for returns will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Because we take such pains with item descriptions and measurements, we really don’t like to take returns due to fit issues or condition of the item. Of course, if we missed something really serious about an item or if we goofed a measurement by 8 inches, we’ll be very sorry and work with you to solve the error.
Special Requests
What you see here on the website at any one time is a fraction of what we have waiting for you. So if you have a specific request (“I am dying to wear a floor length pink maxi dress to a party next week!”), let us know. We’ll check our collection and see if we can help. Likewise if you are a collector of a certain kind of vintage item (“I live for old Supertramp t-shirts!"), let us know. When we hit the thrift stores, we’ll keep you in mind and let you know if we uncover items that fit your description.
About the Site
The look and feel of our website was designed by Rachel, who used to do such things for money but now just does them for love. The site itself was built by the wizards at BASICMAGIC. The site is running on two open-source platforms, Drupal and OSCommerce, and if you want to know how that works, the BASICMAGIC folks are the people to talk to. We think open-source is the greatest, and we thank all of the many developers out there who have contributed to making such innovative and amazing tools.
